Getting ridof dirt, in the opinion of most people, is a good thing. However, there isnothing fixed about attitudes to dirt.

In the early 16th century, people thought that dirt onthe skin was a means to block out disease, as medical opinion had it thatwashing off dirt with hot water could open up the skin and let ills in. Aparticular danger was thought to lie in public baths. By 1538, the French kinghad closed the bath houses in his kingdom. So did the king of England in began a long time when the rich and the poor in Europe lived with dirt ina friendly way. Henry IV, King of France, was famously dirty. Upon learningthat a nobleman had taken a bath, the king ordered that, to avoid the attack ofdisease, the nobleman should not go out.

Though the belief in the advantage ofdirt was long-lived, dirt has no longer been regarded as a nice neighbor eversince the 18th century. Scientifically speaking, cleaning away dirt is good tohealth. Clean water supply and hand washing are practical means of preventingdisease. Yet, it seems that standards of cleanliness have moved beyond sciencesince World War Ⅱ. Advertisements repeatedly sell the idea;clothes need to be whiter than white, cloths ever softer, surfaces to the hate for dirt, however, gone too far?

Attitudes to dirt still differ hugelynowadays. Many first-time parents nervously try to warn their children offtouching dirt, which might be responsible for the spread of disease. On thecontrary, Mary Ruebush, an American immunologist (免疫学家),encourages children to play in the dirt to build up a strong immune system. Andthe latter position is gaining some reason.

Attitudes towards dirt have been changingover time。

Attitudestowards dirt have been changing over time. In the 16thcentury, people believed that dirt on the skin helped protect againstdisease. Since the 18th century, however, people havedeveloped the belief that cleaning away dirt can prevent disease. Today, althoughattitudesto dirt still differ sharply, more and more people choose to believe thatplaying in the dirt can help build up a strong immune.(60 words)

Attitudes towards dirt have been changing代替原文第一段的第二句话there is nothing fixed about attitudes todirt;要点2用protect against disease 代替block out against;要点3中用prevent disease代替is good for health;要点4用today代替nowadays,用sharply代替hugely,用more and more people choose to believe 代替gaining some ground;(5)全文60词,非常符合词数要求。

Although being famous might sound like a dream come true, today’s star, feeling like zoo animals, face pressures that few of us can imagine. They are at the center of much of the world’s attention. Paparazzi camp outside their homes, cameras ready. Tabloids (小报) publish thrilling stories about their personal lives. Just imagine not being able to do anything without being photographed or interrupted for a signature.

According to psychologist Christina Villarreal, celebrities — famous people — worry constantly about their public appearance. Eventually, they start to lose track of who they really are, seeing themselves the way their fans imagine them, not as the people they were before everyone knew their names. “Over time,” Villarreal says, “they feel separated and alone.”

The phenomenon of tracking celebrities has been around for ages. In the 4th century ., painters followed Alexander the Great into battle, hoping to picture his victories for his admirers. When Charles Dickens visited America in the 19th century, his sold-out readings attracted thousands of fans, leading him to complain about his lack of privacy. Tabloids of the 1920s and 1930s ran articles about film-stars in much the same way that modern tabloids and websites do.

Being a public figure today, however, is a lot more difficult than it used to be. Superstars cannot move about without worrying about photographers with modern cameras. When they say something silly or do something ridiculous, there is always the Internet to spread the news in minutes and keep their “story” alive forever.

If fame is so troublesome, why aren’t all celebrities running away from it? The answer is there are still ways to deal with it. Some stars stay calm by surrounding themselves with trusted friends and family or by escaping to remote places away from big cities. They focus not on how famous they are but on what they love to do or whatever made them famous in the first place.

Sometimes a few celebrities can get a little justice. Still, even stars who enjoy full justice often complain about how hard their lives are. They are tired of being famous already.

One possible version:

Living in the public gaze, stars suffer from great pressure. (要点 1)What’s worse, anxiety over their public appearance robs them of the objective self-image, which leads to the feeling of isolation in the long term. (要点 2) While being tracked has been a headache to celebrities for centuries, modern cameras and the Internet make it harder to be famous nowadays. ( 要 点 3. 4) However, by dealing with the stress wisely, stars still can stay popular and happy.

第一段提到了一种现象:现在的家长对孩子表扬太多,但太多不真诚的表扬会导致孩子产生惧怕心理;

第二段讲到表扬太少也不好,表扬太少会让孩子觉得不够被重视,成功没意义;

第三段解释了何谓正确的表扬方式:那就是高质而真诚的表扬;

Parents praise their children to promote their confidence, but the overpraise may lead to an opposite effect. (要点1)However, inadequate praise is also harmful as it deprive kids of motivation.(要点2)Actually, what really matters is the quality of praise, which should be sincere and concentrate on process rather than result.(要点3)Praise offers encouragement and recognition, while it should be based on the facts and correspond with the effort.(要点4)(66 words)

Dear Editor.

I’m writing to tell you about the discussion we havehad about whether an entrance

fee should be charged for parks.

Dear editor,

I’m writing to tell you about the discussion we have had about whether an entrance fee should be charged for parks. 60% of us schoolmates think that an entrance fee do not meet people’s expectations, for a park is considered to be a place where the public can have a good time when they are not busy either at home or at work. If an entrance fee must be paid by the visitors for a park, it will be necessary to build a gate and surrounding walls. In the end a city will take on a bad look. 40% of us schoolmates think that an entrance fee can be accepted, but it must not be too expensive. The money from ticket selling can be used for paying the gardeners in the park and buying some other kinds of flowers and trees.

With regard to myself, I think an entrance fee is useful, for it can be used to protect a park. Do we share the same opinion, dear editor?

Yours truly,

Li Hua
