Now,it is generally acknowledged that competence is getting fiercer and fiercer. Therefore,going to a good university is the premise of getting a good job and wining inthe competitive society. As a result, university ranking becomes much popularthan before. We can also see many ads on the internet which commend a specialuniversity ranked first. And universities try to make themselves bigger andstronger to get a better ranking.
Differentpeople have different opinions on universities ranking. The reason why mostpeople oppose to it can be complicated. To start with, university ranking makesgood universities superior but put the general universities into a worsecondition. What’s more, it would do harm to the development of theuniversities. The governmental subsidy is mostly used on superior universities,while the infamous universities won’t get it. The last but not the least, theexcellent future of a student is not depended on the university, but to thestudent himself .In a sense, university ranking is not meaningful.
Asfar as I’m concerned, I don’t agree to it. Each university has its own benefitsand culture, so that we can’t evaluate a university simply by its ranking. Soit’s better to stop ranking university.
Nowadays on the one hand colleges and universities recruit a large number of students every year, on the other hand students will be in a more competitive labor market than before after four years study. But there are still many graduates go home without job.
With more graduates and less job opportunities, students are encouraged to start business on their own when they graduate from university. They can start anything they are interested in, make decisions on their own, and obtain the fruit of their own labor. Only by this way will graduates become more independent, confident and creative.
However this process is supposed to get the support of government. So the government should provide these students with special policies, and lead them into a right road.
In recent years being a village official has become the first choice of many college students when they graduate and are trying to find a job. According to a report carried by The Chinese Education Daily the number of students who ap* for the post increases at the annual rate of 20 percent in recent five years, which well justifies the popularity of becoming a village official among college students.
Several factors may account for this popularity. First, it is the fierce competition of job market that forces the college graduates to consider other alternatives other than staying in the big cities as they used to. Secondly, to encourage well-educated young talents to work in the rural areas, the government authorities have made some policies offering major incentives to college graduates who are willing to work for rural governments at grassroots level, especially for village commi*s. The preferential treatment is appealing to many students. Last but not least, many students consider working as a village official is a rewarding opportunity. In my opinion, college students working as a village official is worth promoting. It is possible that some graduates may use the job as “spring boards”: only ap*ing for it in order to receive the favorable treatment, but the majority of them genuinely hope to serve the rural areas and better the life of the villagers. I see two kinds of pressure working on college students today: economic pressure, parental pressure. It is easy to look around for rebels-- to blame the colleges for charging too much money, the parents for pushing their children too far. But there are no rebels, only victims.
The pressure is heavy on students who just want to graduate and get a job. If I were an employer I would rather employ graduates who have this range and curiosity than those who narrowly pursued safe subjects and high grades. Blog writing, unknown several years ago, is a common word nowadays. People write about their lives in their blogs on the Internet. Blog writing can give people a lot. In recent years, college students find it increasingly difficult to get a job. It sounds strange since young college students are usually intelligent, well-educated and eager to bring their talent into full play. Then what underlies the strange phenomenon?
There are several reasons for this. To begin with, nowadays college students aim too high. All they want are good jobs which could offer good salary, comfortable working conditions, high social status among others.
