Today, reaching the peak of popularity is the internet. As the exaggerative and impressive drawing describes, the internet are sweeping the world and increasing people are affected by internet nets everywhere in the world. Obviously, no corner of the world can resist the charms of internet.
Internet narrows the distance among people, or broadens it? This issue has become a hot-button. No doubts, I embrace the opinion that internet narrows the distance among people. For one thing, by using internet, we can hear various voices from each corner of the world. Sitting in our own houses, through internet, we know that a black man named Obama becomes the president of America and he is under the pressure on interrogation policy. At Washington , we see that the financial crisis floods the Wall Street, and that the whole Africa is fighting against the _. Without internet, perhaps,we know nothing about the world.
For another, internet gives us more chances to make foreign you are a boy, you may hunt a American girl friend by internet. If you are a businessman, by or , you can sell your products to Europe and Africa. Given all these facts, it is the internet that makes people closer, the world smaller and _One World, One dream_ come true.
The past decade has witnessed an increasingly inseparable relationship between man and Internet. As is vividly depicted in the picture, within a stretching spider web many people are surfing on line, either to entertain themselves or to meet the work's on-line visiting has become a routine activity in our everyday , it seems rather ironic to present people separated from each other by the spider web when they attempt to communicate.
The metaphoric and impressive portrayal has subtly revealed the duality of the relationship between man and Internet. The spider web undoubtedly serves as a symbol of Internet, both connecting people and isolating them from each other. On the one hand, there is no denying that Internet is currently one of the most efficient media used for interpersonal communication. As a college student, I get on line everyday to discuss news with other people on BBS, to study English by registering for web courses, to chat freely through e-mails with my friends. Being a veteran on-line shopper, I frequently bargain with sellers to purchase books at much lower prices. But on the other hand, a good many people admit that they are too much addicted to Internet to maintain face-to-face contact with their friends and colleagues. Cyber-living resembles the experience of seeing disguised people behind a mask, maintaining distance between one another. Once indulged in the fictitious world, people feel reluctant to approach others and to concentrate on real life. That's why some people have lost the skill of direct contact and get alienated from others.
Therefore, it is necessary for us to use Internet in a reasonable way and restrain from addiction. After all,Internet is invented to connect you and me, and to bring conveniences to our life rather than set a barrier to keep people beyond reach.
Dear Mr. President,
My name is Li Ming, a sophomore majoring in International Trade. Having learned and lived on campus for nearly two years, I have found university life most exciting and instructive.
What happens around me every day has left a deep impression on me, but what strikes me most is the canteen service on campus, so that for some time I have had the keen desire to write to you, sharing with you my positive comments on and negative feelings about it. On the one hand, we are happy to see that the canteen staff has been sparing no efforts to guarantee food quality. As a result, we are relieved from the anxiety that some food might be dirty, stale and inedible. We also feel contented with the service provided by the canteen, enjoying food in a homely atmosphere. On the other hand, improvements should be made for the simple reason that prices for dishes are unreasonably high, and that the canteen is not spacious enough and too noisy at times.
Therefore, to improve the overall service of the canteen the strengths should be encouraged, while the weaknesses ought to be overcome by lowering prices and expanding the canteen if possible.

It is widely believed that fresh water will never be used up due to its rich resources such as rain, rivers and wells. In fact, such belief is unfortunately wrong and possibly dangerous. As is depicted in the picture, we are facing serious shortage of fresh water, especially in the northern part of China. The land in some areas has become barren and there is no water coming from the pumps. Definitely, the picture reminds us of the serious situation we are confronting.
Short as it is, people still waste it. With the growth of population and industry, the amount of fresh water in use is also growing rapidly. It is estimated that if not controlled, fresh water will be used up by the next century. Another dangerous factor is the water pollution, which aggravates the seriousness of fresh water shortage.
It is no use only being aware of the shortage of fresh water. It is never too late if we act right now. The first important measure is to protect our water resources form being polluted. Educating people to save water in daily life is of similar significance. Techniques such as recycling waste water and converting sea water into drinkable water are especially needed in dry areas. It is only when these measures are put into practice can the shortage of fresh water be solved.
