听所读写四大技能并不是各自孤立的，也是相互作用和相互制约的。如果平时，只注重某一项技能的学习和训练，那是不可能成为一位真正的英语强手的。
任何一门学科都需要踏实的学习作风。外语也不例外。学外语的实主要表现在以下几个方面：
一、落实词汇、词汇知识和特殊句式的积累。落实词汇和词汇知识并不是反复背记词汇表中的单词。落实词汇、词汇知识以及特殊句式的最好办法是先探究后运用。一个词汇在经过七到八次在不同时间和不同的语境中运用后，它就是你的了。词汇知识和特殊句式也是一样。写作是运用，造句是运用，阅读，倾听和与他人用英语交流也是运用。借助词典进行造句练习，在造句中运用新学的词汇不失为一种行之有效的简单易行的方式。

四、落实课内课外书面作业。简单的完成老师布置的作业量并不是落实。书面作业质的`落实必须是在真正懂了、记住了的基础上又快又好的独立的、闭卷式的完成书面作业。对发现的漏洞和缺陷要采取补救措施。

When Secretary General Hammarskjold’s invitation to address this General Assembly reached me in Bermuda, I was just beginning a series of conferences with the Prime Ministers and Foreign Ministers of Great Britain and of subject was some of the problems that beset our world.
